Did you know that elections in Israel are not for a specific person but for their party? After learning about the elections in Israel we decided to experience the process in class by campaigning for different places in Israel (Tel Aviv, Yam HaMelach, Ramat Hagolan, Eilat, Yerushalayim). Each "party" researched and prepared a speech, slogan and powerpoint presentation to present to the class. Afterwards, we had elections. Each student had the opportunity to cast their vote and we waited anxiously for the results. Kol Hakavod to all of the parties!

Making Phone Calls in Hebrew!
The story of Tamar and the bunny she found in her garden came alive when we improvised the phone call between her and the Ganenet Rivka. It's a lot of fun acting in Hebrew and the conversations were hilarious and entertaining!

One Nation, One Heart
We learned important lessons from Achan in Sefer Yehoshua about communal responsibility and accountability. Achan stole from the booty that was set aside for Hashem after they conquered Yericho. Hashem was angry not only at him but at all of Am Yisrael. We learned that for better and for worse, כל ישראל ערבים זה לזה, we are all responsible for eachother. Our actions effect us and our community. We spent time discussing the benefits and disadvantages of this relationship between Am Yisrael.
Some science helped make that point as well. The water started out pure and clean and one tiny drop of food coloring was able to change the entire cup.
It was reassuring and empowering to learn that our good deeds and actions can tip the scale for everyone.

Machon HaMikdash in BPY
Machon HaMikdash came to BPY today! The 4th graders had the amazing opportunity to build a model of the Bet HaMikdash. This hands on learning experience was a special way to connect to the Chanukah story and also the daily workings in the 2nd Beit HaMikdash. Did you know where they stored the oil or the wood? Did you know that the Kohanim had to climb up humongous poles to add oil to the lanterns? Did you know that Am Yisrael had a Mikdash for over 1,000 years? Ask your new Mikdash experts!
